Visit (500 times)

Even today the port of Barcelona is one of the city's economic engines. It has become in recent years one of the major Mediterranean ports in freight tonnage and number of containers  as well as fishing canneries where they settle in Spain, as USIS (based on over a thousand miles Isla Cristina) and allowing industrial production export and import raw materials or semi. It is also the first Mediterranean port and fifth in the world on cruise ships, carrying up to two million passengers anuales.

El Prat airport, which in 2008 had a turnover of more than 30 million passengers was the second Spanish airport traffic,  has just opened a new terminal that will allow the airport to reach 55 million pasajeros. This infrastructure allowed the development of a strong tourism industry that generates huge profits for the city, although recently discussed the need for more policy guidance from the airport to catch international flights, and fewer flights "low cost", making it easier to attract a profile with greater purchasing power, and in turn, allow the location of the headquarters of large companies in the city.

In early 2008, also opened high speed rail line between Madrid and Barcelona. high-speed line is being extended to the French border, where he will continue to connect with the current French network. This line is being built to allow mixed use for passengers and goods, which will establish a rapid rail link for passengers and freight allow traffic to Europe by train from the port and logistics activities zone

La Fira, Barcelona Trade Fair, organized numerous exhibitions, fairs, congresses and fairs for professionals, some of which are among the first in the world, a fact which makes it one of the most important fairs in Europe and one in Spain more than 3.5 million visitors annually, which also generate a great activity for the hotel and restaurant sector with the incentive of evenly distributed throughout the year.
