Ramon Llull University (URL), Universitat Ramon Llull in Catalan, is a private university Christian ethos located in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain), named in memory of Blessed Ramon Llull.
History:
It was founded on March 1, 1990 and approved by the Parliament of Catalonia on May 10, 1991. Its founding institutions were:
-Faculty of Philosophy at the University Ramon Llull, which dates back to the last century.
-Chemical Institute of Sarria (IQS), which started its academic activities in 1916.
Blanquerna-Foundation, founded in 1948.
-Engineering and Architecture La Salle with over a hundred years old.
On October 10, 1989 these institutions, under the chairmanship of Cardinal Narcis Jubany and by the Fundación Círculo de Economía and support from leading representatives of Catalan civil society, formed the foundation that created the university: Universidad Ramon Llull Private Foundation. The Foundation currently holds the supreme government of the URL through your patronage.
Since its establishment, the URL has been a federation structure that enhances the personality of its member centers. In its years of existence, Ramón Llull University has gradually extended its activities and has become integrated into the following new federated institutions to reach the 10 institutions that currently componen:

"ESADE (Escuela Superior de Administration and Management).
-School of Social Education and Social Work Pere Tarrés.
University Institute of Mental Health Vidal i Barraquer.
-Borja Institute of Bioethics.
-Tourism Sant Ignasi (TSI).
As a partner institution is the School of Design (ESDI).
The result of these developments has been the creation of new faculties and schools as well as expanding the range of subjects until now, 46 degrees. From 2006/2007 academic year Ramón Llull University began offering graduate officers within the framework of European Higher Education Area.
